Aging in Place Program
Preventative safety improvements help you stay in your home and reduce injury risk as you age, with a focus on fall prevention — especially on stairs and in bathrooms. ASSIST offers a free assessment to recommend modifications and provides a Homeowners Checklist to help evaluate your home's safety.
ASSIST's Accessibility program provides design services and modifications that allow seniors and individuals with disabilities to remain safely in their homes. We believe aging in place is a right, and that thoughtful design can make that possible for more people.
Grab bars, walk-in shower conversions, raised toilet seats, non-slip flooring, and accessible layouts that reduce fall risk in the highest-risk room of the home.
Handrail installation, stair lifts, exterior ramps, and threshold modifications that make entering and moving through the home safer and easier.
Widening doorways for wheelchair or walker access, lever-style door handles, and lighting improvements that increase visibility and reduce trip hazards.
Our accessibility services are available to seniors and individuals with disabilities who own their homes and meet income eligibility requirements. Priority is given to those with the most urgent safety needs.
