Providing immediate attention to serious housing conditions
ASSIST's Emergency Home Repair program provides immediate attention to serious housing conditions that affect the health, safety or well being of low income residents. EHR is designed for low-income home owners and in special cases renters.
Low-income home owners whose household income is less than 80% of the area median income (AMI). In very limited cases EHR can assist renters who have a safety or life threatening hazard.
Call Andrés Calderón, Housing Director, Monday through Friday, 8â9 am or 1â2 pm at 801-355-7085. He will ask you the nature of the problem, the city you live in, if you own or are buying your home, the number of people in the household and the total gross monthly income.
If you are eligible, Andrés will schedule a time to come to your home to see the problem and fill out an application. At that time he will need to see verification of home ownership and household income.
After the work is completed it is your responsibility to call Andrés to schedule an inspection.
"When a pipe burst in my basement last winter, I had no idea how I was going to afford the repairs. A neighbor told me about the Emergency Home Repair program through Assist, and I decided to give Andrés a call. From the very first conversation, he was kind, professional, and made the whole process easy to understand. Within a week, he came out to assess the damage, and soon after, a crew was sent to fix the broken pipe and replace the damaged sections. I don't know what I would have done without this program. Assist truly came through for my family when we needed it most."â Maria T. | Salt Lake City Homeowner
"I had faulty wiring that was a serious safety risk for my family, but there was no way I could afford an electrician on my own. The EHR program through Assist sent someone out quickly, fixed the problem, and gave me real peace of mind. I'm so grateful this program exists."â James R. | West Valley City Homeowner
